Today was an “active rest” or cross-training day. I think I’ve about settled on doing Jillian Michaels’ No More Trouble Zones for Tuesdays and Fridays rather than Bob Harper’s Pure Burn Super Strength. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Bob (and his Yoga for the Warrior is still on tap at least once a week, usually after my long run on Saturdays)…but Pure Burn Super Strength is just a tad too much for me to contemplate more than once a week at this point. Maybe later in my training I’ll be ready for it, but not now.
Also, technically my x-t is only supposed to be 30 minutes. I’m already 10 minutes over (and add on 15 with the warm-up and cool-down stretching) with NMTZ…but it’s keeping me at about the right exertion rate, so I’m sticking with it for the time being.
Trust me…it’s plenty challenging. I need to work up to full push-ups AND doing plank rows on my feet and not knees, and i know my lunges can get lower. And then there are surrenders. I did better leading with my right leg today, but still not stellar. I hate that move!!!! But I’m doing it!!
In other news…I’ve got an appointment with my chiropractor on Friday to see if an adjustment might help my hip not twinge when it is. Long story…but I pulled a muscle in my left hip in a bike wreck like 27 years ago. When I first went to Dr. Tetro and he sent me for x-rays, I learned there’s a slight curve in my lower back and one leg (I *think* my left) is the tiniest bit higher, probably because while I don’t limp visibly, I never really stopped fully limping and it just became natural for me to walk that way. It’s nowhere near the point of hurting me when I run or to the point of stopping, but it does get twingy, and I figure it’s better to let him take a look/feel at things NOW before they get worse and I AM at the point of having to stop. So we’ll see what he says! I know he’s an athlete, so he’s a lot more likely to find a way I can keep going WHILE being treated than just to say “stop” unless it’s ABSOLUTELY necessary. Fingers crossed!!!!
